FounderPipe vs Pipedrive for running more than one business

Pipedrive is a mature, well-liked sales CRM, and it can run several businesses with multiple pipelines. FounderPipe does the same job a different way, with a separate workspace per business. Here is how they differ, and who should stay where they are.

We make FounderPipe, so weigh this accordingly. We have tried to be fair to Pipedrive.

The short answer

  • Stay on Pipedrive if your businesses share customers, you have a sales team, or you rely on its integrations and automation.
  • Look at FounderPipe if you are a founder with unrelated businesses whose contacts, lists and email should never mix, and you want one screen showing what is overdue across all of them.

How Pipedrive handles multiple businesses

Pipedrive lets you create multiple pipelines, each with its own stages. A deal sits in one pipeline at a time, and you can move it to another. Contact people and organisations are separate records that can be linked to deals in any pipeline, so updating a contact updates it everywhere it appears.

That is a sensible design for one company with several sales processes, and Pipedrive’s own guidance is to add a pipeline only when the process really differs. It is the same design that makes it awkward for separate businesses: the contacts, organisations and lists are one shared pool, and you filter your way to the business you want.

How FounderPipe differs

FounderPipe gives each business a workspace: its own deals board and stages, its own contacts and companies, its own outreach lists, and its own sending domain. A contact in one workspace does not exist in another. A Today screen reads across all of them, so you still start the day in one place.

Who should stay on Pipedrive

  • Your businesses overlap. If the same customer buys from more than one of them, Pipedrive’s shared contacts are an advantage: one record, the whole history.
  • You have a real sales team. Pipedrive has years of work behind team features, reporting and permissions.
  • You depend on its ecosystem. If you rely on its integrations, automation or mobile apps, switching has a cost that a tidier layout will not repay.
  • You only need different stages. Two sales processes on one customer base is exactly what multiple pipelines are for.

Who should look at FounderPipe

  • Your businesses are unrelated. A studio and a SaaS product, client accounts, a day job and a side business.
  • Mixing would hurt. You do not want one venture’s lists, notes or email history sitting beside another’s.
  • You want each business to email as itself, from its own domain.
  • You are one person, or close to it. You would trade a long feature list for one Today screen and a setup you finish in a day.

One caveat: a workspace separates records, not people. Everyone on a FounderPipe account can open every workspace. If you need to hide one business from some of your team, that is a job for separate accounts or a larger platform. More in workspace vs pipeline.

Moving over

If you decide to try FounderPipe, export your Pipedrive people and organisations as CSV and import them into the right workspace. FounderPipe matches each row against what you already track, so an import does not create duplicates or bring back a lead you archived. Split the file by business first, one import per workspace. How the import works, step by step.

Questions about FounderPipe and Pipedrive

Can Pipedrive run more than one business?

Yes, with multiple pipelines, each with its own stages. Contacts and organisations are one shared pool linked to deals in any pipeline, so the businesses share people rather than keeping them apart.

What is the main difference between FounderPipe and Pipedrive?

Pipedrive separates deals with pipelines over shared contacts. FounderPipe separates whole businesses: each workspace has its own deals, contacts, companies, lists and sending domain, with one Today screen across all of them.

Is FounderPipe a replacement for Pipedrive?

For a founder with several unrelated businesses, it can be. For a sales team, or a business that depends on Pipedrive's integrations and automation, Pipedrive is the stronger choice. See how to choose between CRMs for multiple businesses.

Can I import my Pipedrive data into FounderPipe?

Yes. Export people and organisations as CSV and import them into a workspace. FounderPipe matches rows against existing contacts, so you do not get duplicates or revive archived leads.

Is FounderPipe cheaper than Pipedrive?

Pipedrive prices per seat and FounderPipe prices per account, from $15 a month after a 14-day free trial. Compare against Pipedrive's current prices before deciding, as they change.

Can my team see every workspace in FounderPipe?

Yes. A workspace separates records, not access. Everyone on a FounderPipe account can open every workspace, and owners manage the team and the workspaces.
