FounderPipe vs HubSpot for running more than one business
HubSpot is a large platform, and it has more than one way to run several businesses. FounderPipe does one narrower thing: a separate workspace per business. Here is how the two approaches differ, and who should stay where they are.
We make FounderPipe, so weigh this accordingly. We have tried to be fair to HubSpot.
The short answer
- Stay on HubSpot if you want marketing, sales and service tools in one platform, you have a team, or your businesses share customers.
- Look at FounderPipe if you are a founder with unrelated businesses whose contacts, lists and email should never mix, and you want a CRM small enough to set up in a day.
How HubSpot handles multiple businesses
HubSpot gives you three routes, and they separate different things.
1. Pipelines in one account
Custom pipelines need a paid tier, and the count is shared across object types. HubSpot’s own guidance is that separate pipelines are only recommended when your processes have unique stages. For brands that sell the same way, it recommends against separate pipelines and points to team permissions instead. Contacts and companies stay in one database.
2. Brands
Brands is an add-on for Marketing Hub Enterprise. A brand carries its own marketing assets, tracking code and opt-outs, and you can filter CRM views and reports by brand. It is built for marketing: contacts live in one database, and a contact can belong to several brands.
3. Separate accounts
Each business can have its own HubSpot account, with its own CRM schema, contacts, objects and pipelines. Multi-Account Management then links up to 30 accounts for shared reporting and governance. It needs an Enterprise-tier hub, and the connected accounts must be Professional or higher.
All three are sensible for the organisations they are designed for. The third is the nearest to what a founder with unrelated ventures wants, and it is also the most involved to buy and run.
How FounderPipe differs
FounderPipe gives each business a workspace: its own deals board and stages, its own contacts and companies, its own outreach lists, and its own sending domain. A contact in one workspace does not exist in another. A Today screen reads across all of them, so you still start the day in one place. There is one login and one subscription, not an account per business.
| HubSpot | FounderPipe | |
|---|---|---|
| Separating businesses | Pipelines, Brands (add-on) or separate accounts | A workspace per business |
| Contacts and companies | One database per account; Brands tag contacts, and one contact can sit in several brands | Separate per workspace |
| Fully separate CRMs | Separate accounts, linked with Multi-Account Management (Enterprise-tier hub; up to 30 accounts) | Built in: each workspace is its own CRM under one login |
| Seeing everything at once | Cross-account reports with Multi-Account Management; brand filters within one account | Today reads across every workspace |
| Pricing model | By hub, tier and seat | Per account, from $15/month (14-day free trial) |
| Built for | Teams that want marketing, sales and service tools on one platform | Founders and small teams with several ventures |
Check HubSpot’s own pricing pages for current plans. They change by hub and tier, so we do not quote them.
Who should stay on HubSpot
- You want one platform for marketing, sales and service. That breadth is what HubSpot is for, and FounderPipe is a sales CRM with none of it.
- Your businesses overlap. If one customer buys from more than one of them, one shared database is an advantage.
- You have a team and need its permissions and reporting. HubSpot has years of work behind both.
- You already run Enterprise. If you have an Enterprise-tier hub, Multi-Account Management gives you separate CRMs with shared reporting, and we cannot match that scale.
Who should look at FounderPipe
- Your businesses are unrelated. A studio and a SaaS product, client accounts, a day job and a side business.
- You want separate CRMs without separate bills. One login, one subscription, a workspace each.
- You want each business to email as itself, from its own domain.
- You are one person, or close to it. You would trade a long feature list for one Today screen and a setup you finish in a day.
One caveat: a workspace separates records, not people. Everyone on a FounderPipe account can open every workspace. If you need to hide one business from some of your team, that is a job for separate accounts or a larger platform. More in workspace vs pipeline.
Moving over
If you decide to try FounderPipe, export your HubSpot contacts and companies as CSV and import them into the right workspace. FounderPipe matches each row against what you already track, so an import does not create duplicates or bring back a lead you archived. Split the file by business first, one import per workspace. How the import works, step by step.
Questions about FounderPipe and HubSpot
Can HubSpot run more than one business?
Yes, in three ways: separate pipelines in one account, the Brands add-on for Marketing Hub Enterprise, or a separate HubSpot account per business linked with Multi-Account Management. Pipelines and Brands share one contact database; separate accounts do not.
What is the main difference between FounderPipe and HubSpot?
HubSpot is a broad platform with several ways to separate businesses, some of them tied to Enterprise tiers. FounderPipe is a sales CRM that separates whole businesses: each workspace has its own deals, contacts, companies, lists and sending domain, with one Today screen across all of them.
Is FounderPipe a replacement for HubSpot?
For a founder with several unrelated businesses and a sales-CRM need, it can be. For a team that uses HubSpot's marketing and service tools, or needs its scale and ecosystem, HubSpot is the stronger choice. See how to choose between CRMs for multiple businesses.
Can I import my HubSpot data into FounderPipe?
Yes. Export contacts and companies as CSV and import them into a workspace. FounderPipe matches rows against existing contacts, so you do not get duplicates or revive archived leads.
Is FounderPipe cheaper than HubSpot?
HubSpot prices by hub, tier and seat and FounderPipe prices per account, from $15 a month after a 14-day free trial. HubSpot also offers free CRM tools with limits. Compare against HubSpot's current prices before deciding, as they change.
Can my team see every workspace in FounderPipe?
Yes. A workspace separates records, not access. Everyone on a FounderPipe account can open every workspace, and owners manage the team and the workspaces.
